I know how frustrating it is when your HP printer refuses to connect to Wi-Fi despite multiple attempts. Let’s go through the most effective recommended steps:

1. Restart Everything

  • Power off the printer, router, and your device.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then power them back on in this order: router → printer → computer/mobile.


2. Check Wi-Fi Network

  • Ensure the printer is within 6–8 feet of the router.
  • Confirm you’re connecting to a 2.4 GHz network (many HP printers don’t support 5 GHz).


3. Reset Network Settings on Printer

  • On the printer’s control panel:
    Settings → Network → Restore Network Defaults.
  • Then run the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect.


4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to Official HP® Support → enter your printer model → download the latest firmware.
  • Firmware updates often fix connectivity bugs.

6. Assign a Static IP

  • If the printer connects but later shows offline, set a manual IP address in the printer’s network settings or reserve it in your router.


7. Disable VPN/Firewall Temporarily

  • Some security software blocks printer discovery. Disable them during setup.
