HP DeskJet 3720 All-in-One Printer

My printer became unplugged after plugging in. It shows an orange light and will not print when I ask her to print from my phone which always printed before.

Hi @Shariabeyta,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 3720 printer is not connecting to your phone, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue. Here's what you can do.

  • Check Printer and Phone Compatibility: Ensure that your printer model is compatible with your phone's operating system. Check the HP website or the printer's manual for compatibility information.
  • Enable Wi-Fi Direct: The HP DeskJet 3720 supports Wi-Fi Direct, which allows you to connect your phone directly to the printer without using a wireless router. On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi Direct settings and make sure it is enabled.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, connectivity issues can be resolved by simply restarting both the printer and your phone. Turn them off, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.
  • Update Firmware: Check for firmware updates for your printer. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity problems. If an update is available, follow the instructions to update the printer's firmware.
  • Check Wi-Fi Connections: Ensure that both your printer and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi Direct can only work when both devices are connected to the same network.
  • Forget and Reconnect: On your phone, forget the printer's Wi-Fi network (if previously connected) and then reconnect to it. This can help clear any previous connection issues.
  • Reinstall Printer Software: If you have the printer software installed on your phone, try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it from the app store.
  • Reset Printer Network Settings: On the printer's control panel, you may find an option to reset network settings. Use this as a last resort if other steps haven't worked.
  • Test with Another Device: If possible, try connecting the printer to another phone or device to see if the issue is specific to your phone or the printer itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
