Hi @Fredreick

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for reaching out. I know how disruptive it can be when your HP OfficeJet 6968 shows as offline just when you need it most. Let’s bring it back online with a few focused steps:

Step 1: Restart Everything

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • Restart your computer.
  • After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in and power it on.
  • Wait until it finishes initializing.

Step 2: Check the Connection

  • If you're using Wi-Fi:
    • On the printer’s control panel, tap the Wireless icon and ensure it’s connected to the correct network.
    • If not connected, go to Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard and reconnect.
  • If you're using USB, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.

Step 3: Set the Printer Online in Windows

  • On your computer, open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP OfficeJet 6968 and select See what’s printing.
  • In the new window, click Printer in the top menu and uncheck "Use Printer Offline" if it's selected.

Step 4: Set as Default Printer

  • In Devices and Printers, right-click your HP 6968 and choose Set as default printer.
  • If you see another printer with a similar name and a “Copy 1” or “WS” suffix, make sure you’re selecting the correct one.

Step 5: Run Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App on your computer.
  • Select your printer, then go to Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to automatically detect and resolve offline issues.

If the issue persists after these steps, let me know what type of connection you're using (Wi-Fi or USB), and we can go deeper. You're doing great—let’s get your printer back in action.
