My printer was working fine and printed directly from laptop. Yesterday my computer says it isn't connected to bluetooth and I can't seem to rectify this. I spoke to someone at HP - and he checked it all and got me to print a document - which it did fine. I've just tried to print something else and it went via 'pick up' or something to the HP Smart app which I then had to 'collect' the print and send it to the printer. I've done all the unplug/replug etc., but just can't get the printer to see bluetooth. Has anyone got any suggestions please?

Hi @Violetkeys2 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with a Bluetooth connectivity issue with your HP ENVY Inspire 7920e printer, and while it's still possible to print via the HP Smart app, you're unable to print directly from your laptop as before. Here are a few troubleshooting steps that might help resolve the issue:
1. Check Bluetooth Settings on Your Laptop
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your laptop and that it's correctly paired with the printer.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices and confirm that Bluetooth is turned on.
- If the printer was previously connected via Bluetooth, try removing it and pairing it again by clicking "Add Bluetooth or other device" and selecting the printer.
2. Reset Printer's Bluetooth Connection
- Sometimes, Bluetooth on the printer can become unresponsive. Resetting it may help.
- Turn off the printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Network > Bluetooth and ensure it’s enabled. If there is an option to reset Bluetooth, try that.
3. Reconnect Printer Using Wi-Fi (Alternative to Bluetooth)
- Since Bluetooth seems to be having issues, consider connecting the printer via Wi-Fi if you haven't already.
- Use the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. Once connected, it should show up on your laptop's list of available printers.
4. Reinstall the Printer Driver
- Sometimes, a corrupt or outdated driver can cause printing issues.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners and remove the printer.
- Uninstall the printer's driver from Control Panel > Programs and Features (if applicable).
- Download and install the latest driver from the HP Support website.
5. Check HP Smart App Settings HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Since you're able to print via the HP Smart app, check if the app is set to default as the printer's main communication method. Ensure that the app isn’t overriding the direct connection.
- If you want to print directly, try selecting the printer manually from the app's printing settings.
6. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
- HP provides a free tool that can help diagnose and fix printing problems.
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP's support site and run it to check for any issues with the printer's connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
