I need help if possible, I have an hp envy printer and for some reason it won't print from of the hp app or my android phone or iPad? It just keeps running a blue line as if it's buffering. I restarted the router and the printer it says it's connect but not connected, something like that. It's on the 2.4gzh and same wifi. It does say there's a 2nd host, bounjor .... I don't know what this means. I appreciate any fed back to help get this up an running again. Thanks

Hi @Patsy0680,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when the printer appears to be connected but will not actually print from the HP App on Android, iPad, or phone and shows a blue buffering line. Based on what you described, this is a network communication/discovery issue, not a hardware or ink problem. I’ll explain the “Bonjour” message first, then walk you through the correct recommended steps to get the printer working again.
What “Bonjour” and “2nd Host” Mean (Important)
Bonjour is Apple’s automatic network discovery service. When you see a second host listed with “bonjour”:
- It means the printer is broadcasting itself
- But the printer and your devices are not fully communicating
- This often results in the HP App showing Connected but behaving like it’s buffering
This is common after router restarts, network changes, or sleep events.
Step 1: Restore Network Settings on the Printer (Required)
If your HP ENVY printer has a touchscreen
- On the printer screen, touch Setup (⚙️)
- Go to Network Settings
- Select Restore Network Settings
- Confirm Yes
- The printer will restart, and the blue Wi‑Fi light should blink
If your HP ENVY printer has buttons only
- Turn the printer ON
- Press and hold Wireless (📶) and Cancel (X) together
- Hold for 5 seconds, then release
- The blue Wi‑Fi light should start blinking
This clears the old network and Bonjour records.
Step 2: Power‑cycle in the Correct Order
- Turn OFF the printer
- Power OFF your router
- Wait 60 seconds
- Turn ON the router and wait for Wi‑Fi to fully stabilize
- Turn ON the printer and allow it to finish initializing
Step 3: Remove and Re‑add the Printer in the HP App
Do this on every device (Android & iPad):
- Open the HP App
- If the printer appears, remove it:
- Printer Settings → Remove Printer
- Close the HP App completely
- Reopen the HP App
- Tap Add Printer / Set up a new printer
- Select your 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network
- Finish setup
When finished, the Wi‑Fi light should be solid blue
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
