@Granddad2, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP DeskJet 2723e All-in-One Printer is having trouble staying connected to WiFi, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try. Follow the steps below to diagnose and fix the issue:
Check Your WiFi Connection
Ensure your WiFi network is working properly and that other devices (phones, computers) are connected to the same network.
Make sure that your printer is within range of the WiFi router and that there are no significant obstacles or interference.
Restart Printer and Router
Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
Restart Router: Unplug the router from the power source for about 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
Check Printer’s WiFi Connection
If available, print a Network Configuration Page (this will give you information about your printer’s current WiFi status).
Ensure the printer is connected to the correct WiFi network. If not, proceed to reconnect it.

Reset the Printer’s Network Settings
- Turn off your printer.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer.
- While holding the Wi-Fi button, turn the printer back on.
- Keep holding the Wi-Fi button until the light blinks quickly, indicating that the network settings have been reset.
This clears any old Wi-Fi credentials, allowing you to reconfigure the printer for the new network.
Set a Static IP Address for Your Printer
Sometimes, printers drop connections if they are using dynamic IP addresses. You can assign a static IP to the printer using the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer.
Note down the IP address.
Enter the IP address into a web browser’s address bar.
In the EWS, go to Network Settings > Wireless > IPv4 Settings, and assign a static IP.
Check for Interference
Ensure the printer is not too far from the router, and there are no heavy objects or thick walls blocking the signal.
If there are many WiFi devices or other wireless signals in the area, it may cause interference. Changing the WiFi channel on the router might help.
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
