HP ENVY 7640

Hi All, I am a volunteer with a charity that provides IT support for disabled and the elderly. I have a75 year old client I’m working with that has  sight problems, who is struggling to see icons on screen. She uses SIRI on her iPhone and iPad, and can do things like reading and sending mails and text messages using voice commands.

What she now needs to do is print the document that’s on screen using a voice command, something like “Print Current Document” on her HP ENVY 7640 printer. The printer supports AirPrint and in the past has printed by selecting share………. but as said earlier, she is now struggling to see the screen and icons. Epson have this facility using iPrint, is anything like this available from HP?

Hi @4RoadEnds,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HP ENVY 7640 supports wireless printing, and since it's AirPrint-enabled, your client can indeed print documents from her iPhone and iPad using voice commands through Siri. However, the direct voice command you mentioned ("Print Current Document") might not be natively supported by AirPrint or HP's specific functionalities.

Here's a general guide on how she can use Siri to print documents:

  1. Ensure the Printer is Connected:
    • Make sure the HP ENVY 7640 printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as her iPhone/iPad.
  2. Open the Document:
    • Open the document or page that she wants to print.
  3. Use Siri:
    • Activate Siri by pressing and holding the Home button or saying "Hey Siri."
  4. Voice Command:
    • Use a command like "Print this document" or "Print the current page."
  5. Confirm the Print Job:
    • Siri should confirm the action and may ask for confirmation.
    • click here and follow the troubleshooting steps-  HP printer setup (Apple AirPrint for iPhone, iPad)

This process relies on Siri understanding the print command and communicating effectively with AirPrint. The success may vary depending on the app she is using, as some apps may have more robust Siri integration than others.

If she's having trouble with Siri recognizing the print command or if there are limitations, she might also explore accessibility features on her iOS devices. iOS has a variety of accessibility options, including VoiceOver, which reads aloud what's on the screen, and Speech, which can convert text to speech. These features might assist her in navigating and interacting with her devices.

If Siri doesn't meet her specific needs, there might be third-party apps available that offer more advanced voice commands for printing, but they would need to be compatible with her printer model.

Remember to check for any updates for both the printer firmware and iOS software, as updates can sometimes improve compatibility and performance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
