HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

hello.  When my 9025e failed to print on HP brochure paper, I uninstalled & reinstalled the drivers.  Now, despite the diagnosis saying the printer is ready, I cannot print to this printer!  Instead it prints on another printer (8720).  Both are on the same wireless network.  Even the print dialog box says it is printing to the 9025e.

Any suggestions please?

Hi @JOJ4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing some issues with your HP 9025e printer and your 8720 printer on the same wireless network. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Check Printer Connections:

  • Make sure both printers are connected to the same wireless network.
  • Ensure that the HP 9025e is the default printer on your computer. Sometimes, the default printer setting can be switched accidentally.

Restart Your Printer:

  • Turn off both the HP 9025e and the 8720.
  • Unplug the power cables from both printers and wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cables back in and turn on the printers.

Restart Your Computer:

  • Sometimes, restarting your computer can help resolve printing issues, especially after driver changes.

Check Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer to see if there are any pending print jobs for the HP 9025e. If there are, cancel them.

Reinstall the HP 9025e Driver:

  • Since you already uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, double-check that you've installed the correct driver for the HP 9025e.
  • Go to the HP official website, download the latest driver for the HP 9025e, and reinstall it.

Set the Correct Default Printer:

  • Go to your computer's settings and ensure that the HP 9025e is set as the default printer.

Clear Print Spooler:

  • Sometimes, the print spooler can get stuck, causing printing issues. You can clear the print spooler by:
    • Pressing Win + R to open the Run dialog.
    • Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
    • Find the "Print Spooler" service, right-click it, and select "Restart."

Check Printer IP Addresses:

  • Ensure that both printers have unique IP addresses on your network. IP address conflicts can cause printing problems.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are firmware updates available for both the HP 9025e and the 8720. Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues.

Test with Different Software:

  • Try printing from different applications to see if the issue is specific to one program.

Check Firewall and Security Software:

  • Ensure that your firewall or security software is not blocking communication with the HP 9025e.

Reset Network Settings on Printers:

  • If all else fails, you can try resetting the network settings on both printers and reconfiguring them to connect to your wireless network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4:

very thorough.  Thank you.  I have tried all of the above.  Unfortunately I have had to resort to an old fashioned usb connection for the 9025e.  The 8720 works perfectly, as does my 8020 (not before mentioned).  Ironically the 9025e is by far the newest of the three.  Oh well.  There is only so much time one can devote to this & I seem to spend more than is reasonable on HP printers!  Not your fault.

Thank you again.
