Hey!

When i try to connect mye HP smart to my printer (HP officejet pro 8025e), it says that the printer needs to complete its configuration, all though I just completed it.

I have troubleshooted the problem, and tried to reboot the printer to factory settings, to configure it again, but the same problem occurred. I have worked on this problem for 3 hours yesterday, and for some time this morning.

Can someone please help me?

Hi @Magnuswold

If HP Smart application is indicating that your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer needs to complete its configuration despite having completed it, follow these troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Use HP Smart for the Initial Setup

  1. Open HP Smart:

    • Ensure HP Smart is installed on your computer or mobile device. If not, download it from HP's website or your device’s app store.
  2. Re-add the Printer:

    • Open HP Smart and attempt to re-add your printer. Select Add Printer and follow any prompts.

Step 2: Check the Printer’s Wi-Fi Status

  1. Confirm Connection:
    • Verify the printer's display indicates a stable connection to Wi-Fi. The wireless icon should be solid white or blue, depending on the model.

Step 3: Complete HP Account Activation

  1. Check Your Email:

    • Look for any emails from HP requesting you to activate your printer. Follow the link in the email for activation.
  2. HP Smart Account:

    • Ensure you're logged into your HP account through HP Smart. If not, create an account or log in.

Step 4: Perform Connectivity Checks

  1. Network Configuration:

    • Make sure there are no pending updates for your router or ISP-related issues affecting connectivity.
  2. Turn Devices Off and On:

    • Power cycle the printer, your router, and your computer or mobile device.
  3. Ensure Same Network Connection:

    • Both your printer and device running HP Smart must be on the same wireless network.

Step 5: Re-Configure Using a USB or Ethernet Connection (Temporary Step)

  1. Direct Connection:
    • Connect your printer to the computer using a USB cable to complete the configuration process.
    • Alternatively, use an Ethernet connection directly to your router, if applicable, to complete setup before switching back to Wi-Fi.

Step 6: Check for Firmware Updates

  1. Update Firmware:
    • Check for and install any available firmware updates for your printer through the HP Smart app under Printer Maintenance > Printer Updates.
