HP Envy 7460

I have a user with an HP Envy 7460 printer that is unable to scan to email from the device. This issue was said to have started in the last 6 months to a year but it was only just today raised with us.

The user can print without issue and can scan using the scan feature on Mac. However, scan to email from the device receives a Proxy error. Connecting to the printer web page and navigating to Web Services and attempting auto connect for the proxy receives the error stating "Autodect not found". Checking the proxy setting it is selected for "No Proxy".

We have attempted restart of the printer, I have requested the router and printer be powered off and restarted in sequence and await results. Is there anything further that can be tried before the last resort of factory resetting the printer if the power cycles of printer and router do not work?

Thanks.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to scan to email, I am glad to assist you.

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates

Here are the steps:- Click here

I’d suggest you assign a public DNS to try and fix this issue. Here are the steps:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
    • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
  • Restart the printer and the router and check for issue resolution.

Keep me posted.

If this helps, please mark the public post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
