I have the same issue and am also looking how to solve this issue. A different HP printer model, but the exact same problem. I had an older HP wireless printer (8600), and recently replaced it with a newer HP wireless (direct) printer (9020). Now every time the printer is turned on, two different iPads, display a Security Warning that the Printer appears to be a different unexpected printer, and requires a Continue or Cancel selection to get it to print. ( screenshot included). I have the HPSmart app installed, and here, have removed the old printer, and installed the new one. When printing through the HPSmart App, it works as expected. However, if printing via iOS AirPrint, as some Apps do not give the HPSmart print choice (only the iOS PRINT which is via AirPrint), the security warning always appears. Subsequent AirPrint jobs go through without the warning, until the next power off, and restart of the printer. The security warning then appears again. The old printer is long gone, and all printing is now always from the new 9020, but every time it restarts, they seem to forget there is a ‘new’ printer.
How do I get the iPads, to forget the old 8600 printer, and recognise the new 9020 as the ‘Expected’ printer! Very annoying, as usually what happens is you select print, get up and head over to the printer, only to find there is no printing going on. Back to the iPad to find the pop up has appeared and needs a response to the the print job to go. HELP!
TIA,
Mike
