I have the same problem on an HPOfficeJet 8025E.  I will not use the HP Smart Print because all of my documents then go through an out of network server.This is highly confidential information that needs to be printed.  I have to power cycle this printer at least 3 times a day so that the IP address stays active.  Why is there not a KEEPALIVE feature for the TCPIP on this printer and other HP Office Jet printers. 

 

I have previously gone througb all of the troubleshooting for my printer, including. updating to the most current firmware, and no difference.You should be able to use your printer without HP collecting information on you.
