My power flashed on and off the other day, and I cannot get my printer to reconnect to my WiFi. I have tried all the support ways to do it, and my Wi-Fi light is still flashing, instead of steady. Can someone help me, please

@Lauriebts66, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Power interruptions can sometimes cause your HP DeskJet 4200e series printer to lose its Wi-Fi connection. Let’s walk through the steps to get it reconnected:

Option 1: Use HP Smart App/HP App (Recommended)

  1. Download or open HP Smart on your smartphone or computer.
  2. Reset the printer’s network settings:
    • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button on the printer for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking.
  3. In HP Smart, tap “+” to add a printer.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi.

Option 2: Manual Wireless Setup

  1. Restore Wi-Fi setup mode:
    • Press and hold the Wireless button on the back of the printer until the light starts blinking (about 5 seconds).
  2. On your computer or phone, go to Wi-Fi settings and connect to the printer’s temporary network (e.g., HP-Setup-4200e).
  3. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.223.1 to access the printer’s setup page.
  4. Enter your Wi-Fi credentials to reconnect the printer.

Option 3: Use WPS (if your router supports it)

  1. Press the WPS button on your router.
  2. Within 2 minutes, press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the light blinks.
  3. Wait for the light to turn solid, indicating a successful connection.

What the Lights Mean

  • Blinking Wi-Fi light: Printer is not connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Solid Wi-Fi light: Printer is successfully connected.
