HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

I am having issues trying to reconnect our new wifi to the HP ENVY 6455 printer.

I tried re-setting it several times but nothing works. Restarting the devices didn't work as well.

It says the printer is offline and it only prints when the wifi is connected to the "DIRECT HB".

I use iMac.

How can I connect the new wifi to the printer??

Thank you

Hi @valenyc

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here's how to resolve the issue:

1. Reset the Printer’s Network Setting

  • Turn on the printer.
  • On the printer’s control panel, press the Wireless button and hold it for 5 seconds until the Wireless light starts blinking.
  • This will reset the Wi-Fi settings on your printer.

2. Connect the Printer to Your New Wi-Fi

Now, let's connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network.

Option 1: Using HP Smart App (Recommended Method)

Download and Install HP Smart on your iMac (if not already installed):

  • Go to the Mac App Store, search for HP Smart, and install it.

Open HP Smart and click on + to add a new device.

Select your printer model (HP ENVY 6455e).

The app should detect your printer. If it doesn’t, make sure the printer is powered on and in range of the new Wi-Fi.

The app will prompt you to connect the printer to the Wi-Fi network. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the Wi-Fi password.

After completing these steps, the printer should connect to the new network.

If the printer successfully connects, you can proceed with printing.

Option 2: Using the Printer’s Control Panel (Manual Setup)

On the printer’s control panel, press the Wi-Fi icon or the Wireless Settings button (depending on your printer model).

Select Network Setup or Wireless Setup Wizard.

The printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks. Once the list of available networks appears, select your new Wi-Fi network.

Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Once connected, the printer’s Wi-Fi light should stop blinking and stay solid, indicating it’s connected to your new Wi-Fi.

3. Reconnect Printer to Your iMac

  • Open System Preferences on your iMac and select Printers & Scanners.
  • Find your HP ENVY 6455e printer in the list. If it’s not listed, click the + button to add it again.
  • Select your printer from the list and ensure it is set as the default printer.

4. Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure the printer’s Wi-Fi light is solid and the printer is connected to your new Wi-Fi.
  • If the printer is still not showing as online, restart both the printer and iMac and try again.
  • If you’re using a Wi-Fi extender or mesh network, try connecting the printer closer to the router to avoid potential interference.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

If the printer is still having issues, make sure the firmware is up-to-date:

  1. Open HP Smart on your iMac.
  2. Go to the Printer Settings.
  3. Look for Firmware Update and follow the prompts to update the printer firmware if needed.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
