Hi
My daughter is at university and uses her windows 10 PC on the University Hall Eduroam public WiFi network. When trying to set up the Printer WiFi network on the HP Smart Windows app it looks to transfer the network password from the laptop Wifi to the printer but because its an enterprise network it does not work. We have obtained another Hidden Network from the university IT dept and given the MAC address of the printer so it is whitelisted for that network, but cant see a way how this network can be selected in the HP Smart windows app as is it different to the network the laptop is connected to? Can anyone help?
Will the printer work we successfully get it on a different wifi network to the laptop?
If we use wifi direct do we have to change the laptop wifi network to the HP Direct network every time we want to print?
How will instant ink work if not connected to the internet? This was a key feature that made us select the HP Envy.
Grateful for any advice.
Thanks
Sean

@Sean3672, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
The printer and the computer should be on the same wireless network. Printers will not work on an open/public network. It has to be a private network.
For Instant Ink to work, the printer has to be connected to the internet.
If you use wifi-direct, the printer is not connected to the internet and Instant Ink will not work.
All this will work if you have a private wireless router/network available.
If you cannot access a wireless router, you may have to cancel the Instant Ink subscription and use regular HP ink cartridges to print via wifi-direct.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
