Hi @Vivi-1970,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
To perform a factory reset on your HP DeskJet 2540 series printer, follow these sensory troubleshooting steps:
1. Turn on the Printer
- First, ensure the printer is powered on. Feel the click of the power button and wait for the printer to become quiet and ready. The small vibrations as the printer starts up indicate it's fully on.
2. Press and Hold the Wireless and Cancel Buttons
- On the control panel of the printer, simultaneously press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button for about 10-15 seconds.
- Feel the smooth response of the buttons under your fingers as they press down.
- You may notice the wireless light start flashing after a few seconds, indicating the network settings are being reset.
3. Wait for the Reset
- After holding the buttons, release them. You’ll hear a soft sound or beep from the printer signaling that the reset process has started.
- The flashing wireless light will indicate that the printer’s network settings are cleared and it’s ready to be set up again.
4. Reconfigure Your Printer
- Once the reset is done, the printer will be restored to its default settings. You may need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network by using the HP Smart app or the Wireless Setup Wizard on your computer.
- Feel the cool touch of your computer keyboard or smartphone as you enter the Wi-Fi details again.
5. Test Print
- After reconfiguration, try printing a test page to ensure everything is functioning properly. Feel the smooth movement of paper as it’s drawn into the printer and listen for the satisfying hum of a successful print.
This factory reset will help clear any previous settings, including network configurations, and return your printer to its original state.
