Hi @soohoo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, you will need to update your HP printer with the new router information to connect it to the new network. Here are the steps to do that.
Using the HP Smart App
Download HP Smart:
- If you don't already have the HP Smart app, download and install it on your computer or mobile device from HP Smart or your device's app store.
Open HP Smart:
- Launch the HP Smart app and sign in or create an account if prompted.
Add Printer:
- Ensure your printer is turned on.
- In the HP Smart app, click on the plus sign (+) or "Add Printer".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the new Wi-Fi network.
Using the Printer Control Panel
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer's control panel, go to the network settings and reset them to default. This usually involves navigating to Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Settings or a similar path.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to select your new Wi-Fi network and enter the new password.
Using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
Prepare the Router:
- Press the WPS button on your router. You may need to refer to your router's manual for specific instructions.
Connect the Printer:
- On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless button or navigate to the Network menu.
- Select WPS or Wi-Fi Protected Setup, then follow the on-screen instructions.

Using the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Find the Printer IP Address:
- Print a network configuration page from your printer to find its IP address. This can usually be done from the control panel by navigating to Setup > Reports > Network Configuration.
Access the EWS:
- Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar to open the EWS.
Update Wi-Fi Settings:
- In the EWS, navigate to the Network or Wireless section and update the Wi-Fi settings with your new router’s information.
Reinstall Printer Software (If Needed)
Uninstall Old Software:
- On your computer, uninstall the existing printer software related to the old network configuration.
Download and Install New Software:
- Visit the HP support website and download the latest printer software for your model.
- Follow the installation instructions to connect the printer to the new Wi-Fi network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
