Hi @jnisk,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
Your HP OfficeJet 8015e is showing an "SSL Certificate Expired" error, likely due to outdated firmware or incorrect date/time settings. Here’s how you can fix it:
1. Update Printer Firmware
An expired SSL certificate is often caused by outdated printer firmware. Since you’re using an Acer Chromebook, follow these steps:
Check Firmware Version:
- On your printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
- If an update is available, install it.
Manually Update via HP Smart App:
- Install the HP Smart app from the Google Play Store on your Chromebook.
- Open the app and add your printer.
- Go to Advanced Settings (EWS) and check for firmware updates.
Update via HP Website (Alternative)
- Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware
2. Check Date and Time Settings
An incorrect date/time on the printer can cause SSL issues.
- On your printer, go to Setup > Preferences > Date & Time.
- Ensure the correct date, time, and timezone are set.
3. Reset Printer Network Settings
If the issue persists, reset your printer’s network settings:
- On your printer, go to Setup > Network Settings.
- Choose Restore Network Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi and try again.
4. Use HP Smart Web Portal (EWS)
- Open Google Chrome on your Chromebook.
- Type your printer’s IP address (found in Settings > Network Settings).
- Log in as Admin (default password might be on a sticker under the printer).
- Look for Web Services or Security Settings and check for SSL options.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
