I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-In-One Printer Scanner says disabled. If you're having trouble reinstalling it, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the problem.

  1. Uninstall the existing software:
    • On your computer, go to the Control Panel (Windows) or System Preferences (Mac).
    • Locate the "Devices and Printers" (Windows) or "Printers & Scanners" (Mac) option.
    • Find your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer in the list, right-click on it (Windows) or click the "-" button (Mac) to remove it.
  2. Disconnect the printer:
    • Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer is powered off and disconnected from your computer.
  3. Download the latest drivers and software:
    • Visit the official HP support website (https://support.hp.com) and search for your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer model.
    • Download the latest drivers and software for your specific operating system (Windows or Mac).
  4. Install the drivers and software:
    • Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers and software.
    • Connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer to your computer when prompted during the installation process.
  5. Test the printer:
    • Once the installation is complete, try to print a test page to ensure that the printer is working correctly.

It's worth noting that if you can scan using HP Smart, your scanner hardware is likely functioning correctly, and the issue may be related to the scanner's built-in software or settings. If you encounter any specific error messages or issues during the installation process, please provide more details, and I can offer more targeted assistance. Additionally, make sure your operating system and drivers are up-to-date for the best compatibility with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer and scanner.

I hope this helps.
