Common problems for Connectivity Issues

my hp  photosmart 6510 has the error message "Server connection error, the printer was unable to connect to the server"

Follow the steps below to isolate and resolve the issue-

 

Reset the printer

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 

To provide you with an accurate solution could you elaborate on the issue and tell me when do you get this error? Is it while printing or scanning?

i get the error when i try to set up ePrint

also when i try to use HP firmware updater it has this error message: "This Firmware Updater does not contain upgrades for your device"

This means the printer firmware is updated already.

 

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer. 

 

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. 

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
