I have been scanning photos on my ENVY5530 all month to my email on my desktop. Suddenly this week on the printer when I hit scan and then email it comes up with "Server Connection Error" "There was a problem connecting to the server. Touch retry to connect again or OK to exit" Retry doesn't clear it and exit doesnt help. I have turned the printer off to see if it clears and it doesnt.

Hi @Joe336,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I see that you are experiencing a Server Connection Error when using the Scan to Email feature on your Envy 5530 e-All-In-One Printer. I can help you with that.

To clear the error:

  1. On the printer click on the web services icon in the top-left corner of the display.
  2. Click on the gear.
  3. Click on Remove Web Services.
  4. Click on the web services icon.
  5. Click on Setup and Yes.

At this point you should be able to enable and use the Scan to Email feature on your printer. Please let me know the results of following the above. If you can use Scan to Email,

This solution did not work. In the first step when I hit the web services icon, it says connecting... for a while and then goes to the Server communication error. The printer is on the wifi and active.

Hi @Joe336,

Thank you for performing the recommended steps, I see that it has not helped.

As a last resource, let's perform a semi-full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings and see if that works.

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

After the printer was on all night I was able to delete the web service and reset it. I had to put my email back in. It started scanning to email again but the server error comes up after each step. After I hit retry each time it does proceed to scan. Should I try to do the rest you messaged me? You think this will clear it and I can scan again? If I reset what do I need to do to set it back up. Thanks

The solution did not work for me either and I'm wondering if you could email me instructions on restarting my printer back to factory settings.
