@Lmg852, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you set up Wi-Fi on your HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer, especially when using community Wi-Fi, which can sometimes be tricky due to network restrictions or login portals.
Use the HP Smart App (Recommended)
HP recommends using the HP Smart app for the easiest setup:
- Download it from HP Smart
- Open the app and add your printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to Wi-Fi.
Reset Wi-Fi Settings on the Printer
If the printer isn’t detecting your community Wi-Fi:
- Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer for 5 seconds until the Power light blinks.
- This resets the network settings and puts the printer into Wi-Fi setup mode.
Connect to Community Wi-Fi
Community Wi-Fi often uses a captive portal (a login page), which printers can't navigate. Try these options:
- Use a personal hotspot or mobile router if possible.
- If your community Wi-Fi allows MAC address registration, find your printer’s MAC address (printed on a label or via HP Smart) and register it with your provider.
- Alternatively, use Wi-Fi Direct to print without needing internet:
Use USB Setup as a Backup
If Wi-Fi setup fails, you can temporarily connect via USB:
- Connect the printer to your PC using a USB cable.
- Use the HP Smart app to complete setup and switch to wireless later.
