Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re experiencing intermittent connection issues with your HP Smart Tank 5107 printer across multiple devices, including your Mac laptop, iPhones, and PC. This can be frustrating, but let’s walk through some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.
1. Check the Printer’s Connection Type
The HP Smart Tank 5107 supports both Wi-Fi and USB connections, but it seems you're using a wireless connection given that multiple devices are having trouble. Here's how to check and improve the wireless connection:
Confirm Wi-Fi Connection:
- Make sure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network: On the printer’s display panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi settings and confirm it is connected to the same network as your devices.
- Go to Settings > Wireless > Wi-Fi Setup or Network Settings and ensure it’s connected to your home Wi-Fi.
- Check signal strength: If the printer is far from your router or there’s interference, this could cause connection issues. Try moving the printer closer to the router to see if the connection improves.
- Wi-Fi Troubleshooting: If the printer shows as offline, you may need to restart the printer and the router. This can often resolve temporary network issues.
2. Reinstall Printer Software and Drivers
- Sometimes, the issue can be due to outdated or corrupted drivers/software. Make sure you’re using the latest version of the HP Smart app or HP printer drivers on all your devices.
On Mac:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, and remove the printer if it’s listed.
- Download the latest HP Smart app from the Mac App Store or HP website.
- Install the latest printer drivers from HP’s support page for your model.
On PC:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, remove the printer, and reinstall it using the latest drivers from the HP website.
- Also, download the HP Smart app for Windows.
3. Update Firmware on Printer
- Outdated firmware could be causing issues with the connection. You can update the printer’s firmware through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website and following the instructions for updating the firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
