Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Smart Tank 7001 all in one doesn't connect to Spectrum network (after an 8 day test drive with T Mobile network which never worked with printer). Although I separated networks got burnt out after days of troubleshooting with HP & T Mobile live agents and went back to Spectrum. Made sure was using the 2.4 frequency to try to connect to new Spectrum modem and router. Using HP  to select a new printer doesn't work on Dell (Windows 11), phone (Galaxy A26) or iPad (26.3.1). Removed printers that showed up, uninstalled and reinstalled HP APP

Can't find instructions on how to reconnect printer to network not using HP APP

Hi @Jeanna333,

It sounds like your Smart Tank 7001 is stuck in a "network loop" because it is still searching for the previous T-Mobile credentials and hasn't released its old IP address. Since the HP Smart app is failing to discover the printer across multiple devices, we need to bypass the app entirely and use the printer's built-in web server to manually "point" it toward your Spectrum 2.4GHz network.

  1. Force the printer into Wi-Fi Setup Mode to broadcast its own signal.
    • On the printer control panel, press and hold the Information button (i) for five seconds until all control panel buttons light up.
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel (X) buttons simultaneously for five seconds until the Wi-Fi light blinks blue.
    • Wait 60 seconds for the printer to reset its network stack and enter "Setup Mode," which allows it to be seen by other devices again.
  2. Connect your device directly to the printer's temporary Wi-Fi signal.
    • On your Dell laptop or Galaxy phone, open the Wi-Fi Settings menu (not the HP Smart app).
    • Look for a network named HP-Setup-Smart Tank 7000 or similar in the list of available networks and select it.
    • If prompted for a password, leave it blank or use 12345678; your device may say "No Internet," which is normal for this direct connection.
  3. Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to enter Spectrum credentials.
    • Open a web browser (Chrome or Edge) on the device you just connected to the printer and type 192.168.223.1 into the address bar.
    • Navigate to the Network tab, select Wireless (802.11), and then click on the Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Select your Spectrum 2.4GHz network name from the list, type in your Wi-Fi password, and click Apply to permanently lock the printer onto the new router.

For more details on using the internal web settings, see the HP printer setup (Wireless Mesh or Wi-Fi Direct) guide.

Does the Wi-Fi light on the printer change from blinking to solid blue after you click "Apply" in the web browser?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

The "i" function doesn't work. Nothing lights up. Hours of live agents seem to have killed my printer.

Kuroi_Kenshi,

Thank you, this was the info I was looking for, to use the HP setup network and the set-up wizard.  I couldn't get any panel lights this morning, but another HP agent at least got me back to square one and I was able to follow your steps. It took a few times to work, but it looks like it is now. I talked to Spectrum who made sure I was on 2.4 GHz as well.
