Wifi set up

Hi Djs105

To set up the Wi-Fi on your HP Smart Tank 6000, the most reliable method is using the HP Smart app.

Before you start, make sure your phone or computer is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use and that Bluetooth is turned on.

1. Put the Printer into Setup Mode

If your printer is new, it should already be in setup mode (the Wi-Fi light will be blinking blue). If it is not, or if you are reconnecting it, you need to reset the network settings:

  1. Press the Information button (the "i" icon) for 5 seconds until the control panel buttons light up.

  2. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button (the "X") at the same time for about 5 seconds.

  3. The Wi-Fi light will blink blue, indicating it is ready to connect.

    2. Connect using the HP Smart App

  1. Download & Open: Install the HP Smart app from the App Store (iOS), Play Store (Android), or 123.hp.com.

  2. Add Printer: Tap the Plus sign (+) or Add Printer.

  3. Find Printer: The app will search for your Smart Tank 6000. When it appears, select it.

  4. Enter Password: The app will ask for your Wi-Fi password.

  5. Confirm on Printer: Watch the printer's display. If a small "i" (Information) button flashes, press it once to confirm you are physically at the printer.

  6. Finish: Follow the remaining prompts to register the printer or skip to start printing.

3. Alternative: WPS Method (No App Required)

If your router has a WPS button, you can connect without using an app:

  1. Hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer for 3–5 seconds until the light starts blinking.

  2. Within 2 minutes, press and hold the WPS button on your router (usually for 3 seconds).

  3. Wait for the Wi-Fi light on the printer to stop blinking and stay solid blue.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • 5GHz vs 2.4GHz: Most HP printers prefer the 2.4GHz band. If your router combines both, the app usually handles it, but if you have trouble, try connecting your phone to a dedicated 2.4GHz signal first.

  • Proximity: Keep the printer and your phone within 10 feet of the router during the initial setup.

I hope the above is helpful
