after switching to Starlink, my printer keeps showing an error message that it is not connected to the internet via Wifi even though i have entered all of the Wifi information on the printer and it said it connected at the time. The printer is a HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One

Hi Calber

Starlink routers use aggressive band-steering (combining 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into one network name) and default WPA2/WPA3 security settings that often block the background cloud health checks HP printers perform.

Step-by-Step Fixes

1. Split the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Networks in Starlink

HP printers communicate much more reliably when connected strictly to a dedicated 2.4 GHz frequency band.

  1. Open the Starlink App on your phone.

  2. Go to Settings $\rightarrow$ Network.

  3. Toggle on "Split 2.4GHz and 5GHz Networks".

  4. Save the settings. You will now see two Wi-Fi networks (e.g., YourNetwork_2.4GHz and YourNetwork_5GHz).

2. Reset Network Settings on the Printer

Clearing out old network credentials and cached tokens prevents conflicts:

  1. On the printer touchscreen, go to Menu or Setup ($\text{gear icon}$).

  2. Tap Settings $\rightarrow$ Network Setup (or Restore Settings).

  3. Select Restore Network Settings and confirm.

  4. Restart the printer.

3. Reconnect to the 2.4 GHz Network

  1. On the printer touchscreen, go to Setup $\rightarrow$ Network Setup $\rightarrow$ Wireless Setup Wizard.

  2. Select your newly created 2.4 GHz Starlink network name.

  3. Enter your Wi-Fi password carefully.

4. Change Printer DNS to Public DNS (If Error Persists)

If the printer connects to Wi-Fi but still claims "No Internet Connection", Starlink’s default DNS servers are likely failing to resolve HP's cloud endpoints.

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer's touchscreen menu to find the printer's IP Address (e.g., 192.168.1.XX).

  2. Open a web browser on your phone or computer connected to Starlink, and type that IP address into the address bar to open the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).

  3. Navigate to Network $\rightarrow$ IP Configuration or IPv4 Configuration.

  4. Change IP Settings from Automatic to Manual (or static).

  5. Set the DNS addresses to Google/Cloudflare DNS:

    • Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8

    • Alternate DNS: 1.1.1.1

  6. Click Apply or Save.

Once these steps are completed, power-cycle the printer (unplug for 30 seconds and plug back in). The Wi-Fi status indicator should turn solid blue, and the internet connectivity error should resolve.

I hope the above is helpful
