HP LaserJet Pro M15w Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently changed my Wifi and am trying to connect my MF15W printer to the new wifi. I have searched through the support threads and here is what I have already tried:

- I printed the configuration report but the IP address is blank and searching the host name does not work. The IP Address is also blank when I go to the printer information from my computer.

- I have tried to connect through the Smart App but the Advanced Setting and Wireless Settings are gray and I am not able to select these from the menu.

-I have clicked the diagnose and fix button from the Smart App but since it is not on the same network as my computer, it cannot fix it.

-I have tried to connect with the WPS but my wifi system does not have that (I have Verizon).

- I have reset the wifi on the printer, unplugged my printer and turned everything off and on and still cannot get it to connect to the new network.

How can I connect this printer to my computer so I can print?

Hi @aicenhower,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP LaserJet Pro M15w printer to your new WiFi network, you can follow these steps.

Using HP Smart App

Reset the Printer's Network Settings:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button (the one with the antenna icon) until the Attention light starts blinking. This should take around 5 seconds.
  • The printer will reset its network settings, which can help if previous settings are causing issues.

Download and Install HP Smart App:

  • If you haven't already, download and install the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.

Set Up the Printer Using HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart App and make sure your computer or mobile device is connected to your new WiFi network.
  • Click on "Add Printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • The app will guide you through connecting the printer to your WiFi network.

Using HP Wireless Direct

If HP Smart App doesn't work or if the advanced settings are grayed out, try using HP Wireless Direct:

Enable HP Wireless Direct:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the Attention light blinks, and then press the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time. The Wireless Direct light should turn on.

Connect to HP Wireless Direct:

  • On your computer or mobile device, go to the WiFi settings and connect to the network named "HP-Print-XX-LaserJet M15w" (XX represents the printer's unique identifier).
  • The default password for this network is usually "12345678".

Access Printer's EWS (Embedded Web Server):

  • Open a web browser and type "192.168.223.1" in the address bar to access the printer's EWS.
  • Go to the Network tab and select "Wireless (802.11)" and then "Wireless Setup Wizard".
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your new WiFi network.

Reconnect Your Computer to the Regular WiFi Network:

  • Once the printer is connected to the new WiFi network, reconnect your computer or mobile device to your usual WiFi network.

Manual IP Configuration

Print a Network Configuration Page:

  • Press and hold the Resume button (the one with the paper icon) for 10 seconds. This will print a configuration page.

Manually Assign an IP Address:

  • Connect your computer to the printer's HP Wireless Direct network as described above.
  • Open a web browser and type "192.168.223.1" in the address bar to access the printer's EWS.
  • Go to the Network tab and then "IPv4 Configuration" or "Wireless Settings".
  • Enter a manual IP address that matches your router's subnet. For example, if your router's IP address is "192.168.1.1", you can assign the printer an IP address like "192.168.1.20".

Reconnect to Your Regular WiFi Network:

  • After assigning the IP address, reconnect your computer to your regular WiFi network.
  • Add the printer using the assigned IP address.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
