Yes - message could be true.

Not every software / application supports printing every file / document type.

 

Depending on the device you are using, the document, its location, your Operating System / version,

You might not have the type of software / application installed that is necessary to support the print job.

 

For example,

  • HP Smart - Windows - supports PDF and Photos / Images - but not Word or other Office style documents.
  • Depending on the device AND the Operating System, the software / application might not be supported.  This usually results in a "device not supported" error message but the underlying cause can impact the message that you see.
