Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I want access to my printer using its IP address. However, I get a "Destination Net Unreachable" error. I have varified that I typed in the correct IP address several times. I have ran a CMD Ping 192.168.223.1 It returns "Destination Net Unreachable". I tried two different browsers with the same results. I have only one desktop computer. I checked with my Internet Provider to varify that the problem does not originate from their end. It does not. I have only one conclusion. HP is blocking access. I need help please.

Hi @billbrown66

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining the situation so clearly—and I’m truly sorry for the frustration this has caused. You’ve already done a great job verifying the IP address and isolating the issue. The “Destination Net Unreachable” error typically means your computer and printer are not on the same network segment, or the printer is no longer connected to the network.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery to help you regain access to your printer’s IP interface.

Step-by-Step: Fix “Destination Net Unreachable” When Accessing Printer by IP

1. Verify Printer’s Current IP Address

  • On the printer’s control panel:
    • Tap Wireless icon or go to Network Settings
    • Print a Network Configuration Page
  • Look for the IPv4 Address (e.g., 192.168.x.x)

If the IP address is different from 192.168.223.1, update your browser and ping test accordingly.

2. Ensure PC and Printer Are on the Same Network

  • On your PC:
    • Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter
    • Type ipconfig and press Enter
    • Look for your IPv4 Address (e.g., 192.168.1.100)

If your PC is on a different subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.x vs. 192.168.223.x), they won’t communicate. Reconnect both devices to the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.

3. Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer:
    • Tap Wireless icon > Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard
    • Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password
  • Wait for the connection confirmation and note the new IP address

This ensures the printer rejoins your main network and receives a valid IP from your router.

4. Ping the New IP Address

  • Open Command Prompt again:ping [new printer IP]
  • If you receive replies, open the IP in your browser to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Example: http://192.168.1.105

5. Optional: Assign a Static IP

  • Once inside the printer’s EWS:
    • Go to Network > IPv4 Configuration
    • Set a Manual IP within your router’s range (e.g., 192.168.1.150)
    • Save and restart the printer

This prevents future IP changes and ensures consistent access.

Let me know what IP address appears on the printer’s network report or if you’d like help assigning a static IP.

You’ve done everything right—this sequence should help you reconnect and access your printer reliably.
