HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer

When I got this printer and all others before this one, I have been able to connect successfully without any issue. Ever since I moved and got a new internet provider with a more up to date Wi-Fi, it's been impossible to connect. I am not sure what it is making this so difficult. I put in the password for printer and, it says "not connected, secured", then for some reason disconnects my internet. It's like I can't have both Wi-Fi connected for internet and printer? I am not sure if that makes any sense. I never had this trouble.  This internet Wi-Fi is more up to date than what I had previously which I had never updated for years. I had an old Wi-Fi before where I could restart the router with the box button. However with the new one, I need to do it through the internet provider app on my phone. Still, I am not sure I am making sense or what I am doing. I do still have warranty and used the chat feature a few weeks ago for an expert to remote in to fix it. It took a while but they did manage to connect it. I was happy, and then later found out it is not connected anymore. I am not sure what the expert did, but I think I saw at one point they restored to factory default maybe? I wish I had asked what it was that was causing the problem, but I didn't think I'd have a problem again. I am at a loss! Right now, the chat feature is unavailable for some reason, so I decided to come here and see if someone can shed some light on what's happening! None of the steps online I try to fix this works!

Hi @CreamySmoothie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing Wi-Fi connectivity challenges with your HP DeskJet 2577e printer due to the newer internet setup. The issue likely stems from differences in how the new router handles connections compared to your older one. Let's try to resolve this step by step.

Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

To ensure a fresh start:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Hold down the Wi-Fi button and Power button together for about 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking.
  • This resets network settings to factory defaults.

Check Your Router Settings

Modern routers sometimes have settings that can interfere with printer connections:

  • Dual-Band Wi-Fi: Ensure your printer connects to the 2.4 GHz network, not 5 GHz, as many printers only support 2.4 GHz.
  • Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS): If your router supports WPS, you can connect the printer using the WPS button:
    • Press the WPS button on your router.
    • Within 2 minutes, press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the light blinks.

Reconnect the Printer

Use the HP Smart App:

  1. Download HP Smart (if not already installed) on your phone or computer.
  2. Open the app and ensure you're connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Select Add Printer and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.

Disable Isolation or Security Features

Some routers isolate devices for security:

  • Log into your router's admin panel (instructions typically found on a sticker on the router).
  • Disable AP Isolation or similar settings that prevent devices on the same network from communicating.

Assign a Static IP to the Printer

Dynamic IP addresses might cause the connection to drop:

  1. Log into the router settings and assign a static IP to the printer.
  2. In the HP Smart app, add the printer using this static IP.

Test the Connection

After setup:

  • Ensure your devices remain connected to the internet and the printer.
  • Print a network configuration page:
    • On the printer, press and hold the Information button (i) or the Wi-Fi and Information buttons together.

Note:

  • Printer Disconnects Wi-Fi: If connecting the printer disconnects your internet, there might be a router firmware issue. Update your router firmware via the internet provider app.
  • Reconnection After Power Loss: Ensure your printer's connection persists by assigning the static IP.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I got my printer fixed. I had to use the chat for help. I guess I can only use HP Smart app for printing. I did the set up from there and it worked this way. Before, I had to click the Wi-Fi icon and connect the printer and internet that way. It's working!

Well, I had to get chat support to help me.  Thank you for trying to help me. I don't see a thumbs up to reply.

Resetting to factory default and using the HP Smart app helped me connect the printer. Thank you. I had to use chat support for guidance, but this is what they used to set me up.
