HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer

Hello.

I am unable to print from my laptop. The error messages I get are either 'the printer is in an error state', or 'unable to print'.

Thank you.

Hi @LadyLisa84,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your laptop via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • Check the printer's connection settings and make sure it is selected as the default printer.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the printer queue on your laptop, and cancel any pending print jobs. Sometimes, stuck jobs can block new ones.
  • Go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers", right-click on your printer and select "See what’s printing."

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure the printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP Support page to find the latest drivers specifically for your DeskJet 2710e model.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility can diagnose and resolve many printing issues automatically.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams that might be causing an error state.
  • Ensure the paper tray is properly loaded and paper is correctly aligned.

Ink Cartridge Check:

  • Ensure ink cartridges are installed correctly and have adequate ink levels.
  • Perform a cartridge alignment if necessary.

Network Connection:

  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is properly connected to the network. You might need to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network using the setup menu.

Printer Reset:

  • Perform a printer reset by turning it off, then turning it back on after waiting for a minute.

I hope this helps.
