HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hi,

I have been using an HP Officejet Pro 7740 wide format printer for about 18 months. It was working fine to begin with, I could print from my work Macbook Pro or any other android, Windows or iOS device connected to either 2.4g or 5g wifi or over the Lan connection to the server.

Recently I have been unable to print from the MBP if it is connected to the 5g network, as the printer is only able to connect to 2.4g. All our other devices could still print from anywhere, even remotely over mobile network.

Now I am unable to print at all. The only way I have found to get a print is to connect over wifi-direct, but this involves manually switching wifi networks before printing, which is very clumsy and not tenable in the long term.

At this point the printer is just a large ugly paper weight.

Any help you can offer would be great. Thanks

Tony

Hi @Ttec72
Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer does not connect to 5g network.

As a workaround, I suggest that you connect the printer and the router using ethernet cable and then connect the router and the Mac computer wireless on the 5g network.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
