Somehow my HP OfficeJet 8020 has locked me out of Wi-Fi settings. I did not do this and I am pretty pissed. I need to access my scanner and my printer is offline and won't go back online. My username and password for HP does not work when entered. How do I resolve this?

Here's what worked. Why this wasn't provided by HP "experts" is beyond my ken.
1. I opened my HP Smart and when to "Printer Information".
2. I entered the IP address in my browser.
3. Select "Settings"
4. Open the pull-down menu "Restore Defaults"
5. Select "Restore Factory Defaults"
6. When prompted open printer top, find the "PIN" number by the ink cartridges and enter that in browser.
7. Select "okay" and then wait.
8. You wll be prompted to set up your printer.
9. Working again with no lock out in place.

Hi @Estcher,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer is locked, you may need to enter the printer's administrative menu to unlock it. Here are the steps you can follow.
- Turn on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer.
- Press the "Home" button on the printer control panel.
- Navigate to the "Settings" menu by using the arrow keys and select it.
- Scroll down to the "Preferences" option and select it.
- Scroll down to the "Reset Menu" option and select it.
- Enter the administrator password when prompted. If you don't know the password, try the default password "12345678" or "admin".
- Scroll down to the "Semi-Full Reset" option and select it.
- Follow the prompts to complete the reset process.
Once the printer has been reset, it should be unlocked and ready for use. Note that resetting the printer may erase any customized settings and network configurations, so you may need to set these up again after the reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

This did not work. Almost everything is greyed out on the panel. Under System --> Preferences nothing is available except Brightness.
I want to understand how any of this is possible. I have NEVER put in a Control Panel Lock or anything like that. My printer is essentially completely locked out to me. I can print and scan etc. but can do nothing internal to the settings. It's essentially bricked. So how is this possible?
What floors me is that I cannot do any kind of reset to this thing. Terribly disappointed in this HP product.

I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e.
I assume that as I have setup the printer (via the HPSmart App on the PC), to be secure, the printer automatically locks the advanced functions/control panel after a set time (unclear how long).
You, like me, will be confused by this as you will remember NOT putting in a login or password.
I went around and around with HP support and HP employees but in the end found the solution on my own.
Username admin (default) and the pin (8 digit numeric) which can be found inside the front panel (where you access the print cartridges').
Once you have these details, you can change the PIN via HPSmart. In fact it was playing with HP Smart that led me to this solution - when I went into advanced features if asked me for the PIN inside the panel.
Good Luck.
