Hi @Caitgerken,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with WIFI
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the WiFi connection issue with your HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer.

May I know

1. Since when are you facing this issue

2. Have you made any changes on your printer post that this issue raised and have you observed any light blinking on the display and any error code

3. May I know if you are using genuine cartridges

4. Could you please elaborate in detail?

1. Double-Check Network Name (SSID) and Password

  • Ensure that you are connecting to the correct WiFi network.
  • If your password has special characters, try entering it without mistakes. Sometimes touchscreen printers misinterpret inputs.
  • Confirm your WiFi password by logging into your router settings or checking with your ISP.

2. Restart Everything

  • Printer: Turn it off, unplug it, wait for 60 seconds, and plug it back in.
  • Router: Restart your modem/router by unplugging it for 60 seconds, then turning it back on.
  • Device (Phone/PC): Restart the device you're using for the setup.

3. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

  • On the printer touchscreen:
    1. Go to Settings > Network Settings.
    2. Select Restore Network Defaults.
    3. Confirm and wait for the reset to complete.

4. Use the HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Download the HP Smart App on your phone or computer.
  • Connect your phone or PC to the same WiFi network you're trying to use for the printer.
  • Open the app and select Add Printer. Follow the setup instructions.

5. Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)   How to Find the WPS PIN to Complete Printer Setup

  • If your router supports WPS:
    1. Press and hold the Wireless Button on the printer until the wireless light starts blinking.
    2. Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
    3. Wait for the connection to be established.

6. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • If possible, connect the printer to your PC using a USB cable.
  • Download the latest firmware for the HP OfficeJet 3830 from the HP Support Website.
  • Install the firmware and then retry the WiFi setup.

7. Advanced Router Settings

  • Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz network (most HP printers do not support 5 GHz).
  • Check if MAC Address Filtering is enabled on your router. If so, disable it temporarily or add your printer's MAC address to the allowed list.
  • Ensure the router is set to WPA2 encryption and not an outdated protocol like WEP.

8. Try Manual IP Address Setup

  • On the printer touchscreen, select Wireless Settings > Manual IP.
  • Use your router settings to assign a static IP to the printer and enter it here.
