I have the HP envy 4502 model. It has worked for several years on our wireless internet. It recently became disconnected from the internet, and now will not re-connect. I have done all the steps to reset the system, unplugged the router and reset it, restored factory settings to the printer with no avail. Each time I try to connect it says “connection failed”. I have also tried with WPS button and it gets about halfway through and says “error”. Is it time for a new printer or can it be reset somehow?

Hi @Pollyd3 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's frustrating when a wireless printer refuses to reconnect to the network. Before considering a new printer, let's try the troubleshooting steps:
Check Network Settings on the Printer:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless or network settings.
- Ensure that the printer is set to the correct wireless network name (SSID) and password.
Restart Router and Printer:
- Turn off both your wireless router and the printer.
- Wait for about 10-15 seconds.
- Turn on the router first and wait for it to fully initialize.
- Then, turn on the printer and see if it can now connect.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Visit the HP website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model.
- If an update is available, follow the instructions provided to update your printer's firmware.
Forget and Reconnect to the Wireless Network:
- On the printer, forget the current wireless network.
- Reconnect to the wireless network by entering the correct SSID and password.
Check Wireless Signal Strength:
- Ensure that the printer is within the range of your wireless network.
- If the signal is weak, consider moving the printer closer to the router.
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer, find the option to reset network settings.
- Perform a network reset and then try connecting to the wireless network again.
Manual Setup:
- Instead of using WPS, try manually entering your wireless network information into the printer.
Check for Interference:
- Other electronic devices or neighboring networks could cause interference. Try changing the wireless channel on your router to see if it makes a difference.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
