Hi @DA2530

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I am sorry for the difficulty you are facing with the printer showing “Waiting for printer connection.” I understand how frustrating it feels when restarting the system doesn’t solve the issue and you are left unable to print.

I appreciate the effort you’ve already put in to try and resolve it.

Here are steps you can try to restore the connection:

Step 1: Check Printer Status

  • Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as your computer.
  • If using USB, ensure the cable is firmly connected to both the printer and the PC.

Step 2: Remove and Re‑add the Printer

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click “Remove device.”
  • Restart your computer.
  • Open the HP App from the Microsoft Store, add your printer again, and test printing.

Step 3: Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App

  • Open the HP App.
  • Select your printer > Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Click “Start” and let the tool run a full scan.
  • It will automatically detect and resolve issues such as blocked communication or offline status.

Step 4: Update Drivers and Firmware

Step 5: Test with Direct USB Connection

  • If you are using Wi‑Fi, connect the printer directly to your PC with a USB cable.
  • Send a test print job to confirm if the issue is network‑related.

Step 6: Reset Network Settings on Printer

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
  • Reconnect the printer to your Wi‑Fi network and re‑add it in the HP App.

These steps should help clear the “Waiting for printer connection” message and restore normal printing.
