I have the same problem in Windows 11.   Every time I go to use my P Smart Tank 5100 printer, I have to "wake it up".  Pressing the power key doesn't succeed to make printer online and accessible.    Is the official HP solution I have to power down and power up every time I want to print?

No, the official solution is not to have to switch the printer all the way off and then on each time you want to print.

Switching the printer on / off / on off works when nothing else does, but doing so should not be necessary.

Printer Specifications include:

Wireless capability:  Yes, built-in Wi-Fi 2.4G, Wi-Fi Direct
Connectivity, standard:  1 Hi-Speed USB 2.0 (device); 1 Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n; 1 Wi-Fi Direct

If your printer is connected to your network,

If you have not already done so,

Consider making sure the printer is connected to the part of your network serving the 2.4GHz frequency.

Next,

Assign the printer its own static / manual IP address so it can find its way back onto the network after it sleeps or is disconnected for other reasons.

Next,

Make sure your router is fully configured (for the IP address assignment) and check that the router is updated to its latest firmware.

AND

Check the router's location, too -- If the signal to and from the printer is obstructed or just too close or too far away, the connection will suffer.

==============================

Offline Condition

Although the printer appears to be switched on, it does not communicate with other devices on your network.

What you do to correct the issue depends on the underlying cause.

Microsoft - Troubleshooting offline printer problems in Windows

Consider >> Restart All

Restart Everything, including the router that controls your network

Next,

If your printer is assigned a manual / static IP address it is better able to find its way back onto the network.

Example – EWS Setup – IPv4

EWS > HP Document / How-to (Basic format)

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

Alternate EWS format (Select newer printers and select Laser Printers)

Open your Browser >

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Note → If the browser security will not let you open EWS, try a different browser.

Section Network > Primary Ethernet

Check / Adjust Status > IPv4

OR

Check / Adjust IP Config > IPv4

OR

Open your Browser >

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Note → If the browser security will not let you open EWS, try a different browser.

Section Network > Wi-Fi > Section IP Config > IPv4

-- Notes --

  • If your browser security will not allow you to open EWS, try a different browser.
  • It is not mandatory that you use a manual / static IP address.  Doing so can improve stability.
  • If needful and if supported, set the Band Frequency to the frequency you want the printer to use.
  • If you assign a manual / static address on the printer, update your router to reflect the assigned IP address.
  • EWS sections might be locked and require the printer’s PIN number to access.  Find the printer’s default PIN inside the ink cartridge ink cartridge / area, or perhaps on the bottom or back of the printer.  Check your printer’s User Guide first chapter for details – search the document for “ PIN “.
