HP Web Jetadmin

In the topic Web JetAdmin and Internet Explorer Retirement someone posted the changelog of 10.4, that contains Jetadmin can now launch from new browsers. I cannot find a way to do that. I have installed the latest 10.5 SR2 and it still automatically try to open the internet explorer, then windows redirects it to the edge, but it's not compatible with it: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

I tried earlier the localhost url in Edge and it was good, but with the latest version (107.0.1418.56) I cannot load it. Not working even in Edge's explorer mode (it says: maybe it's obsolete or it uses non secure TLS settings).

In Firefox:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to localhost:8000. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG

Ok, in chrome it's working if the "Meta4 ClickOnce Launcher" extension is installed from the chrome web store.

There is Meta4 ClickOnce Launcher in Firefox add-ons webpage too.

Of course you can only open in these browsers manually, the Jetadmin always tries to open the retired IE and no settings to change it...

It seems Edge has no Meta4 ClickOnce Launcher extension, instead it contains this function but inactive.

"In June of 2020, the Edge browser by default disables the ClickOnce functionality needed to run the ECS .NET applications.

To enable the ClickOnce functionality in the Edge browser, the following steps need to occur:

  1. Open Edge browser
  2. Type: edge://flags in the browser address bar
  3. In the ClickOnce Support section, select Enabled
  4. Close all Edge browser windows
  5. Open Edge browser
  6. Launch an ECS application"

But after I enabled this, it still says the ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

There is an "Xactware ClickOnce" extension to edge, but same error.

"In some cases, you might need to add the URL for HP Web Jetadmin to the trusted security zone in
the web browser" It didn't help for Edge.

In Edge you can install the "Meta4 ClickOnce Launcher" extension from the chrome web store, just you need to allow it (in the upper blue text).

Now the https://localhost:8000/  url that Jetadmin opens, still doesn't work ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR (in chrome it's working with the extension), it cannot finds the application. So you still have to manually open the http://localhost:8000/wja/wja.application  url. So Jetadmin still half-compatible with Edge.
