I am trying to connect my printer wirelessly to my phone and I need the printer Wi-Fi password and I don’t know it. It is not the pin number that is on the white label and it is not the default 12345678

@Kay4320, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP printer.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

To connect your printer wirelessly to your phone, you typically need the Wi-Fi Direct password, which might be different from the default PIN or the network password you have tried. Here’s how you can find or reset the password:

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page:

    • Access your printer’s control panel and look for the Wi-Fi or Wireless button.
    • Press and hold it for a few seconds until you see a print job initiated. This typically prints out a network configuration page which includes the Wi-Fi Direct details.
  2. Check Wi-Fi Direct Label:

    • Some HP printers have a Wi-Fi Direct label showing the default Wi-Fi Direct name and password. This label can often be found inside the printer access door where you replace ink cartridges or sometimes on the back or bottom of the printer.
  3. Access Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):

    • Connect your computer to the same network as the printer or directly to the printer's wireless network.
    • Enter the printer's IP address into a web browser to access the EWS.
    • Go to the Network or Wireless settings section to find Wi-Fi Direct. Here, you should be able to see or change the password.
  4. Reset Wi-Fi Direct to Default Settings:

    • Navigate to the Wi-Fi Direct settings on your printer's control panel and select the option to reset the connection settings or revert to the default settings, if available.
  5. Use HP Smart App:

    • Download the HP Smart app on your smartphone or tablet.
    • Use it to connect to the printer and manage printer settings, where you can check the Wi-Fi Direct settings and view the password.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
