Product: HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The MFP M234dwe printer has a Wi-Fi Direct Setup.  What is this for?  I can't connect to it and the printer is virtually adjacent to the Gateway/Router.

Wifi direct is a type of connection that let you connect to the printer directly without an external network, kind of similar to Blutooth.

If you don't want to use it, you can turn it off by holding the I button for 3 seconds until all the buttons get lit and then cick on both the resume (arrow pointing down) and the wifi button at the same time. after that the printer's wifi direct network will disappear from the available network list.

I may have found the answer.  Though I could not find a related posting by searching.  After I posted, related postings came up.  The purpose seems to be to support printing by others, but not providing any other network access.  I can see some sense to this, especially for print service  companies.  I don't think it has any value to me and should probably disable it to save energy.  I'd appreciate comments or thoughts.
