I have a LaserJet Pro MFP M28w and a Windows 10 PC. I would like to place the printer away from my PC and (since I don't have a WiFi router) only connect to it via WiFi Direct. However after spending several hours on it I still can't get the WiFi Direct setup to work. No idea what the issue could be, but here are two remarkable situations that occur every time:
1.) When following the instructions here (https://support.hp.com/lv-en/document/c04577030), the printer perfectly prints a page containing an 8-digit WiFi Direct PIN, but when I enter the code in the WPS PIN window, nothing happens for about 2 minutes before I get the error message "That didn't work. Try adding your DIRECT-b4-HP M28 LaserJet again, or check with the manufacturer for additional setup instructions."
2.) As long as the printers USB cable is plugged into the PC, the network displayed is "DIRECT-b4-HP M28 LaserJet" (secure connection). At the moment I unplug the USB cable, the network disappears and instead another network
HP-Setup<b4>M28 LaserJet
(open connection) appears.
I'll gladly provide further information if asked for, I just can't tell what's important here.

@Anonym3, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Follow the steps below-
An Enter the WPS PIN for your printer message displays, and you cannot find the PIN (password) to complete the printer setup.
When this message displays, the PIN is temporarily shown on the printer touchscreen or is on an information sheet that automatically prints. You have a short time (90 seconds for many models) to enter the PIN before it becomes invalid. Restarting the computer and going through the printer setup process again generates a new PIN.
If you cannot complete the setup with the WPS PIN, click Cancel and install the HP Smart app instead. During the installation, you are prompted to set up the printer connection.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
