Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

My Wi-Fi is working fine, but for 2 days my new printer (1 month) does not recognize it . I am getting the "printer is not connected" message. Tried turning wifi off and on, restarting, testing the wifi system--no problems found. I bought this printer a month ago. I wonder if returning it to the factory settings would help..

Help, please 🙂 Thank you!

@DaySpring2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print wirelessly from the Mac.

  • Make sure the printer and the Mac are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

Perform a ping test to check the connectivity

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello Kumar,

Well, I entered the wp2 address in the  printer settings, clicked the of-on button on the printer a couple times, and the "I" button, and got the report, and then the page I had in my printer queue. Now I don't know what happened…it's working.

A few days ago the amber light was flashing. I turned the printer of and on a few times, but maybe never turned it back on.

I'll be happy that it's working, and come back if it goes on the fritz again.  I have printed out your instructions, and will start there if this happens again.

Thank you so much for being there!!

best,

Deborah

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Series and am having similar connection problems.

"If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network."

Not sure what this means? I have a dual band router (eero) and have had no issues with this (had the printer for over a year now). I checked and verified that both the printer and laptop are connected to the 5GHz network. I ran all the test reports on the printer, and everything is good. Except, I can't connect to the printer! Everything was working fine until today.

It means that both the 2.4G and 5G bands should have different names. This can be done using the router's EWS page.

If both the devices are connected to the same network,

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  • Print a test page to check if this works.

Keep me posted.
