Hi @ANNETTE13622,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Before resetting your HP Photosmart 5510 E-All-In-One Printer to factory settings, try the following troubleshooting steps.

  • Check Ink Levels: Low ink levels shouldn't affect the printer's ability to connect to WiFi. However, it's still a good idea to ensure you have sufficient ink to print.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for a minute, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Restart Router: Power cycle your WiFi router by unplugging it from the power source, waiting for about 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in. This can often resolve connectivity issues with wireless devices.
  • Check WiFi Connection: Ensure that your printer is within the range of your WiFi network and that the WiFi connection is working properly.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can usually check for updates through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP support website.
  • Check Network Settings: Verify that the network settings on your printer are correctly configured to connect to your WiFi network. You may need to re-enter your WiFi network's SSID and password.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can consider resetting the printer to factory settings as a last resort. Keep in mind that resetting your printer will erase all custom settings and configurations, so you'll need to set it up again from scratch.

To reset your HP Photosmart 5510 E-All-In-One Printer to factory settings, follow these steps.

  1. Press the "Wireless" button on the printer's control panel.
  2. Press the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll down and select "Restore Network Defaults" or "Restore Factory Settings."
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.

After resetting the printer, you'll need to set it up again to connect to your WiFi network. Follow the instructions provided with your printer or refer to the printer's user manual for detailed setup instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your suggestions. I still have not managed to connect back on to wifi. Think it might be a problem with my wifi  signal strength is not strong.  i am in communication with talktalk. Odd cos i can connect to my ipad, mobile and laptop but not the printer.

Suspect all this wet weather might be affecting things….as sometimes i lose my landline when consistently wet.

I did try to do a new set up with the smart app but the link via my settings from HP-setup didnt work.

The saga goes on.
