Hi @UlfAndersson,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8715 printer going offline and requiring frequent reinstallation, as well as issues with a USB joystick for your flight simulator. These issues might be related to your computer's settings or network configuration. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to address the problem.

  1. Check Network Connection:
    • Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
    • Verify that the wireless signal is strong and stable.
  2. Static IP Address:
    • Assign a static IP address to your printer through your router settings. This can help prevent the printer's IP address from changing and potentially causing connectivity issues.
  3. Printer Software Reinstallation:
    • Before reinstalling the printer, try restarting the printer and your computer. Sometimes, this simple step can resolve connectivity issues.
    • If the problem persists, uninstall the printer software completely from your computer and then reinstall the latest version from the HP website. Make sure you use the correct driver for your printer model.
  4. Firmware Update:
    • Check if there are firmware updates available for your HP Officejet Pro 8745 printer. Installing the latest firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
  5. Firewall and Antivirus Software:
    • Check your computer's firewall and antivirus settings. Sometimes, security software can block printer communications. Ensure that your printer and the necessary ports are not blocked.
  6. USB Joystick Issues:
    • The issue with your USB joystick may or may not be related to the printer problem. However, if you're experiencing USB device issues, you can try the following:
    • Test the joystick on a different USB port to rule out any port-related problems.
    • Check the device manager in your computer's operating system to see if the joystick is recognized and whether there are any driver issues.
    • If there was a recent update to your computer's internal components (processors, graphics), make sure you have the latest drivers for those components.
  7. Network Router Configuration:
    • Ensure that Quality of Service (QoS) settings on your router are not limiting the printer's network traffic.
  8. Power Management Settings:
    • Check your computer's power management settings and make sure they are not causing the printer to go offline when the computer sleeps. You can configure your computer to allow the printer to wake it from sleep if necessary.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to address the issue of your HP Officejet Pro 8715 printer frequently going offline and the joystick connectivity problem. Make sure to isolate and address each issue individually to pinpoint the root cause of the problems.
