Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I have an HP deskjet 2800e all-in-one printer series. I had it working and connected to the internet and everything and a few days ago it suddenly won’t connect so that I can print.

I went through everything, reset the printer, reconnected to the internet, and done almost everything else I could think of and it still won’t connect to the hp app. It says there is connectivity issues.

I printed a WiFi network test result page and it says that the WPA authentication method has been configured to a non-fault setting despite not having messed with it and resetting the printer. It says to refer to the documentation that came with the printer to solve it but I no longer have those documents.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi @TheGrandeWeeb,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for sharing those details! The WPA authentication error on your HP DeskJet 2800e means the printer is failing to authenticate with your Wi-Fi network, even after a reset. This usually happens due to:

  • Router security settings (WPA3 or mixed mode)
  • Printer firmware does not support the current encryption
  • Incorrect network profile after reset

Here’s the accurate fix:

Step 1: Check Router Security Settings

  • Log in to your router settings.
  • Ensure WPA2-Personal (AES) is enabled (not WPA3-only or WPA/WPA2 mixed).
  • HP DeskJet 2800e does not support WPA3-only networks.

Step 2: Restore Network Defaults on Printer

  1. Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
  2. Wireless light should start blinking (Setup Mode).

Step 3: Reconnect Using the HP App

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware

Step 5: Print Network Test Page Again

  • From printer menu: Setup > Reports > Network Test.
  • Ensure status shows Connected and WPA2.
