HP Smart Tank 750 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Smart Tank 750 was doing well since last 1 year.

Suddenly the WiFi direct password started changing automatically.

I wanted to reset the password but it asked for some custom password, which I didn't know.

So I wanted to reset the wifi and re-connect via HP smart app.

Now it is not connecting. Everytime I reset and try connecting via the app, it is showing "unexpected error", "error code -1"

I tried connecting via the laptop, same result.

Some technician opined that it could be the wifi card that is defective.

Can anyone give some opinion here?

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating connectivity issue with your HP Smart Tank 750 printer. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

1. Factory Reset the Printer

  • Open the ink access door and wait for the carriage to move to the center.
  • Press and hold the Information button until all the buttons light up.
  • Then, press the Information and Cancel buttons together for 6 seconds.
  • Close the ink access door and wait for the loading icon to disappear.
  • Turn off and on the printer, and ensure the Wi-Fi button starts blinking.

2. Reconnect via HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart app and select Set up a new printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • If prompted, press the flashing Information button on the printer to complete the setup.

3. Update the firmware on an HP printer

I can do the factory reset but not being able to reconnect by HP smart app. During connection, "preparing the printer" is taking undue time and then it's showing unexpected error and error code -1.

Moreover the wifi direct option is not showing.

I got a diagnostic report from the printer where it is showing wifi function failed.
