Hi, I'm also facing the exact same issue as the rest of the people on this forum. I'm using the same HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e printer, and the wifi menu completely disappeared from the printer after the firmware updated to 6.23.6.5. I can't find a way to configure the wifi anymore, and none of the above solutions have helped me either.

Hi @Mark7879,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e printer’s Wi-Fi option has disappeared. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Restart the printer and router
Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord for about 30 seconds. Restart your Wi-Fi router as well, then power the printer back on to refresh network services.
Check the Wireless status on the printer
On the printer control panel, look for the Wireless icon or Network menu. If wireless is turned off, enable it from Settings → Network Setup → Wireless Settings.
Restore network settings on the printer
Restoring network defaults can bring back missing Wi-Fi options.
From the printer control panel, go to Settings → Network Setup → Restore Network Settings, then confirm.
Reconnect using the HP Smart app
Open the HP Smart app on your computer or phone.
Select “Add Printer” or the “+” icon and follow the instructions to reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi.
Check for firmware updates
In HP Smart, go to Advanced Settings (Embedded Web Server) → Tools or Printer Updates.
Install any available updates to ensure wireless features function correctly.
Move the printer closer to the router temporarily
Weak or unstable signals can cause wireless features to stop appearing.
Place the printer within a few meters of the router during setup.
If you’d like, tell me whether the Wi-Fi icon is missing from the printer screen entirely or if the printer just isn’t connecting to the network — I’ll help you narrow it down quickly.
I hope this helps.

Hello Kenshi, you need to read the previous posts in this thread. There is no WIFI option in the settings>network menu anymore and the solution you have provided above does not work. You need to roll back this update version or issue a new update as a matter of priority so we can all access the WIFI option again via the printers settings. Alternatively, you will find most people will return their printers and not purchase HP again. Please post to this thread when an update is available as our printers will no longer be able to automatically update over WIFI.

Yes. I have the same issue. I have tried all the fixes suggested above and elsewhere.
HP can replace these, fix the problem and stop wasting its customers time. I am sure the media will be interested in the story of the updates that disable their products and make them useless. They may have a few less customers for their printers in future!

Hi @Nigel91
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I’m really sorry you’re running into that “Network connection unavailable” message on your OfficeJet Pro 813e.
When a printer refuses to join the network, it can feel like everything comes to a halt, so I’ll walk you through a clear, calm set of steps to get it breathing on the network again.
Here’s a structured path you can follow:
1. Give the printer a fresh start
A simple restart often clears temporary network blocks.
• Power off the printer
• Unplug it for about 30 seconds
• Plug it back in and turn it on
• Wait until it becomes fully idle before trying to reconnect
This helps the printer re-establish its wireless radio cleanly.
2. Check the Wi‑Fi environment
The printer needs a stable 2.4 GHz network.
• Make sure your router is broadcasting 2.4 GHz
• If your router combines 2.4 and 5 GHz under one name, temporarily separate them
• Keep the printer within a comfortable distance from the router—no thick walls or metal cabinets blocking the signal
3. Confirm the network is working on Windows
Since we support Windows only:
• On your Windows PC, connect to the same Wi‑Fi you want the printer to use
• Open a browser and load any webpage to confirm the network is active
• If the PC also struggles, restart the router
4. Reconnect the printer using the Wireless Setup Wizard
On the printer’s control panel:
• Open the Wireless or Network menu
• Select Wireless Setup Wizard
• Let it scan for available networks
• Choose your Wi‑Fi name
• Enter the password carefully—one mistyped character can block the connection
If the printer says “Network connection unavailable” during this step, continue below.
5. Reset the printer’s network settings
This clears any corrupted network profiles.
On the printer panel:
• Go to Network Settings
• Choose Restore Network Settings
• After the reset, run the Wireless Setup Wizard again
6. Restart the router
Routers sometimes hold onto stale IP assignments.
• Turn off the router
• Wait 20–30 seconds
• Turn it back on
• Once all lights stabilize, retry connecting the printer
7. Add the printer again in the HP App on Windows
Since HP Smart has been replaced:
• Open the HP App on your Windows PC
• Remove the printer if it’s listed
• Add a new printer
• Follow the on‑screen steps to guide the printer onto the network
This often forces a clean handshake between the printer and router.
8. Check for interference or blocked connections
• Ensure MAC filtering is disabled on your router
• Make sure the router isn’t limiting the number of connected devices
• If your router has a “Guest Network,” avoid connecting the printer there
9. Try a temporary hotspot test
This helps confirm whether the issue is with the printer or the home network.
• Turn on a mobile hotspot
• Connect the printer to the hotspot using the Wireless Setup Wizard
• If it connects smoothly, the home router needs adjustment
If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution! ✅ It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
