My computer: HP Pavilion x360 intel core i5 windows 11
adapter/driver wifi: Realtek RTL8852BE Wifi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter
When I turn on my computer it's directly connected to wifi 4/2.5g (Actually i have chosen 5G first in preferred band)..
To change it to be 5G is: Change value (IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ax) to be (IEEE 802.11b) in 5G wireless mode
and wifi connection being 5G but not wifi 5. so the next I change again value (IEEE 802.11b) to be (IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ax) and getting wifi 5 and 5g conncetion. but it's taking a time every I turn on my computer. So, how to solve this problem. Actually i have change preferred band to be 5G first.
Thank you

Hi @HariWinanda,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble consistently connecting to your preferred 5 GHz Wi-Fi band and ensuring that your connection is utilizing Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) instead of falling back to Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n). Here are some steps you can take to address this issue.
Update Wi-Fi Drivers
Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your Realtek RTL8852BE adapter. Outdated drivers can cause connectivity issues and affect performance. You can update the drivers through Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Right-click on Realtek RTL8852BE Wifi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the prompts.
Check Router Settings
Make sure your router is properly configured to broadcast the 5 GHz band and that it supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). You might need to:
- Log into your router's admin interface (usually accessed via a web browser by entering the router's IP address).
- Ensure that the 5 GHz band is enabled.
- Check that the channel width is set to 40 MHz or higher to support Wi-Fi 5 speeds.
- Verify that the 5 GHz network is not set to operate in legacy modes that might limit its performance.
Adjust Wireless Network Settings on Your PC
You can further tweak your Wi-Fi settings to prefer the 5 GHz band and ensure optimal performance:
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click on Realtek RTL8852BE Wifi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter and select Properties.
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Look for an option related to Wireless Mode or Preferred Band. Ensure that the preferred band is set to 5 GHz. You might also find settings like Band or 802.11 Band where you can select 5 GHz.
Power Management Settings
Sometimes, power management settings can affect Wi-Fi performance. Ensure that your Wi-Fi adapter is set for maximum performance:
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click on Realtek RTL8852BE Wifi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
Reset Network Settings
If the problem persists, you might consider resetting your network settings:
- Open Settings (Win + I).
- Go to Network & Internet.
- Scroll down and select Network reset.
- Follow the instructions to reset your network settings. This will remove and reinstall your network adapters and set other networking components back to their default settings.

Check for Windows Updates
Make sure that your Windows 11 is up to date, as updates can sometimes resolve connectivity issues:
- Go to Settings (Win + I).
- Select Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any available updates.
By following these steps, you should be able to improve your connection to the 5 GHz band and ensure that you're using the optimal Wi-Fi 5 standard.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
