Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Linux

I print from Linux (Slackware, Fedora, Debian) to an HPLJ m402dn without any printing software at all!

The printer is wired to the computer with an USB cable. I simply copy a postscript or PDF file to /dev/usb/lp0. It has functioned perfectly for 20 years with this model and prior HPLJs.

Here is the question. Is it possible (has anyone else in the HP community) set up SSH and used the command scp to transfer a file that prints properly over a standard local WiFi router setup? I will be purchasing some HPLJ printer that supports full PS3 emulation (4001dw, possibly).

I do NOT want any HPLIP or cups apps involved.

Extend this question.

Is there any simple Linux command that will send a file to a postscript printer?

For example, NetworkManager with nmcli device wifi ... will see and connect to an HP WiFi printer. How then to send a file to the printer?

Other schemes?

Looking for clean simple solutions.
