Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

About a month ago now, i started having issues with network, but it wasn't bad; just occasionally getting disconnected, etc.

Now, the issues have gotten worse

On my home network (Not any other networks, just my home network) the laptop will connect to WiFi... but only Google products will work. I can watch YouTube videos, but cant check for new network drivers on HP Support Assistant?

Ethernet will work, though.

I have kept all of my drivers up to date, and update Windows on time.

Any solutions?

No other laptops in my home have had this issue. Just mine.

Hi @Clams222,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there may be a specific compatibility issue between your HP laptop and your home network. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Restart Your Devices

  • Restart your laptop, router, and modem. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve network issues.

Forget and Reconnect to the Network

  • Go to your laptop's WiFi settings, forget your home network, and then reconnect to it. This can sometimes clear up any connection issues.

Update Network Drivers

  • Even though you mentioned that your drivers are up-to-date, it's worth checking again. Go to Device Manager, find your network adapter, right-click on it, and select "Update driver."
  • You can also visit the HP Support website and manually download the latest network drivers for your specific laptop model.

Change DNS Settings

  • Sometimes changing the DNS settings can resolve issues related to certain websites not loading. Try switching to a public DNS server like Google's (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare's (1.1.1.1).
    • Open Network & Internet settings.
    • Click on "Change adapter options."
    • Right-click on your WiFi network and select "Properties."
    • Double-click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)."
    • Select "Use the following DNS server addresses" and enter the preferred DNS addresses.

Disable IPv6

  • Disabling IPv6 can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
    • Go to Network & Internet settings.
    • Click on "Change adapter options."
    • Right-click on your WiFi network and select "Properties."
    • Uncheck the box next to "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)."

Reset Network Settings

  • Resetting your network settings can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
    • Scroll down and click on "Network reset."
    • Follow the prompts to reset your network settings. Note that this will remove all saved networks and you will need to reconnect to them.

Check for Interference

  • Ensure there is no physical interference between your laptop and the router. Other electronic devices, thick walls, or large metal objects can interfere with WiFi signals.

Use a Different WiFi Band

  • If your router supports dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), try switching to the other band. Sometimes one band might be less congested or have better signal strength.
    • You can do this by connecting to the appropriate SSID for each band (e.g., "YourNetwork-2.4GHz" vs. "YourNetwork-5GHz").

Check Router Settings

  • Ensure your router firmware is up-to-date. Visit the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to update your router's firmware.
  • Check your router settings to make sure there are no restrictions or configurations that might be affecting your laptop.

Run Network Troubleshooter

  • Windows has a built-in network troubleshooter that can help identify and fix issues.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
    • Select "Internet Connections" and run the troubleshooter.

Test with a Different Router

  • If possible, try connecting your laptop to a different router to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with your laptop or your home network setup.

Factory Reset

  • As a last resort, consider performing a factory reset of your laptop. This should only be done if all other troubleshooting steps fail and you have backed up your data.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
